Republicans Are in Lock Step With Trump on Shutdown. But for How Long? – The New York Times

In Trump country, even some furloughed federal workers are backing the president’s wall demands, and keeping Republican senators in line as the shutdown stretches on.

I had the bizarre experience of being contacted by someone that went to the same (very small) high school I did a few years earlier. He lived in Grass Valley, California — a small town in the Sierra foothill which is mostly hippies and retired people. He fell in the latter category.

Though Grass Valley is 500 miles, or so, from the Mexican border, he was adamant that we needed to make sure that ISIS didn’t get through.  I asked him, “do you really think that people from ISIS are going to come all the way from Syria, sneak into Mexico, and then travel 500 miles to get you?”

His response?

“You won’t be thinking that way when they chop your head off.”

I am not sure if anyone that clueless will ever realize he’s been had.
